Previously known as The Lomond Audi Group in Scotland and The Colbornes Group and Benfield in England, the unification of our showrooms as part of the Lookers family mean that we can now offer more choice and an unrivalled service to customers across the UK.
The Lomond Audi Group was established in 1998 as a single Audi centre in Kyle Street, Glasgow and located in one of the first solus Audi hanger buildings in the UK. Quickly outgrowing this facility, the immaculate state-of-the-art premises situated at Braehead was opened. This revolutionary building was, and still is, regarded as much more than just an Audi centre. In fact, the unique combination of a magnificent showroom, a café and a children's play area not only make it the complete Audi experience, but also one of Europe's largest Audi centres.
With Glasgow Audi proving to be such an enormous success, Lomond Audi branched out, acquiring Edinburgh Audi and Stirling Audi in 2006, opening Ayr Audi for business in 2007 then finally joining Lookers in 2012. Our newest centre, Audi Approved Hamilton, was opened in 2015. This state of the art 12 car showroom showcases the best Audi approved used vehicles and offers the complete range of aftersales services.
The Colbornes Group was established in 1949 and were the first UK company to place trust in a German car, the Volkswagen Beetle, which was described by the British Motor Industry Commission as "bizarre, too flimsy – a toy not to be taken seriously". The Volkswagen was to alter the course not just of British but global motoring history. Since then they have focused on offering great prices, sound advice and quality vehicles. The Colbornes Group became part of Lookers in 2014.
Most recently Benfield was acquired by Lookers. Known as Benfield Motor Group, the company was founded in Newcastle in 1957 and is one of the UK's biggest private motor retailing companies. The company had 30 dealerships across the North of England and Scotland and complements the Lookers brand perfectly. This acquisition means four Audi sites in the North East join our exisiting eight sites across the UK as part of Lookers Audi.
